Video Conferencing Technology

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

There was a time talking on the phone was the fastest way to communicate with internal and external customers. This has changed thanks to video conferencing technology because you don’t only get voice but visual as well.

During the early days, picture and audio quality was not very good. With the latest improvements in technology, these barriers have been overcome and more people are already using it.

The biggest benefit of video conferencing is that it reduces the cost of traveling. No longer do you have to fly off somewhere to have a meeting when you can do all that in the conference room. This can also be used by law enforcement to get the testimony of a witness, to teach students who are enrolled in distance education and a lot more.

Video conferencing technology is not possible unless you have the proper equipment. These include the Codec, the camera, microphone, network connection, stands or charts, terminal adapter and the acoustic echo cancellers. Let’s talk about each of them.

The Codec is one of the most important components because this is what compresses the information sent and received you are able to understand each other.

The camera is what you look into so the other party is able to see you while the microphone is what you speak into so they can hear you through their speakers.

The terminal adapter is needed so you can transmit data into the required format so just like the Codec, you will be able to communicate with the other person.

Lastly, is the echo canceller that is usually hung in the ceiling that is designed to provide clarity and depth to the resonant frequency response of your audio sub system.

Since its inception more than10 years ago, some of these machines are much smaller and more efficient than their predecessors. The price of the equipment has also gone down so you are sure to find something that is very affordable for your budget.

Once the technician from your desired provider installs the system, you can run this machine on your own as it is very user friendly.

But despite the trend, there are those who are concerned about this technology.

For one, since you see the person on the other end and vice versa, some are concerned that no eye contact gives the wrong impression that you are not interested in what the individual on the other end is saying. The same goes for body movement as some people believe it or not, are not comfortable being in front of the camera.

These issues will be overcome in the future as companies who are providing video conferencing technology are coming up with ways to solve it or after the user gets used to talking to someone while in front of the camera.

Video conferencing technology has an impact in business, education, law enforcement, in medicine and other fields. You have probably used it also at home to talk to friends and loved ones because there are software applications that allow you to do the same thing.

Using video conferencing technology does not only save money but it also increases productivity and at the same time builds relationships because it breaks down boundaries caused by distance and time zones. It is truly one of the marvels of the digital age.

Age of War Flash Game - Tips and Strategy

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Age of War - is a great free online flash game, which combines elements of tower defense and anti-tower defense games. If you’re tired of all the tower defense games which all look alike, then this game is for you! In Age of War, you can build your defenses by buying different turrets, and when you have no place to set the turret to, buying additional turret spots. At the same time, you can train your troops to attack your enemy. You have a choice of just 3 troops - direct combat unit, long-range unit, and heavy unit. There are multiple ages in the game - starting from cavemen and dinosaurs, and all the way to lasers, tanks and air machines.

Even though your options are limited (just 3 turret types and 3 unit types during each age), don’t let this fool you - there is plenty of strategy in choosing the right battle plan - both long-term strategy and short-term tactics. Here are a few possible strategies:

1. Total defense. Forget about attacking your opponent - concentrate on defense. Spend most of your money on turrets and only train troops when the turrets are not fast enough to kill all the coming enemies. Since each side gets the most money for killing opponents troops, your opponent will get less money as he won’t kill many of your troops. When you have a good defense, you can accumulate some big amount, and overwhelm your opponent with a quick and devastating raid.

2. Total offense. Forget about defenses - spend all your money on troops and overwhelm your opponent with your attacking force. This is somewhat hard to do on harder levels, so choose your troops wisely and plan ahead carefully.

3. Balanced defense and offense. Build some turrets, conference call providers don’t forget about your troops - destroy coming wave of enemies with your troops and the help of the turrets, then let your troops attack your opponent to give you some time to accumulate the money for the next wave.

Choose your strategy based on your preferred style and on difficulty level. Besides strategy, plan the order of your troops: watch out for coming enemies and build your troops in the order which will most effectively destroy them. For example, the most powerful combination is the heavy unit followed by long range unit - they will both deal the damage to the 1st enemy unit. Also, do not forget about special abilities - using them is the key at the start and middle of the game. Choosing the right moment to use your special ability can be the difference between winning and losing.

What Makes Speakers Work?

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

A speaker is a device that converts an electrical signal into sound. It is an integral part web conferencing music systems, televisions, computers, and radios. Every day we listen to music or watch television but never really give much thought to how a speaker actually works.

Speakers work on basic principle of electromagnetism. Electric current is made to pass through a coil of wire which creates a magnetic effect, charging the metal inside. This metal after charging up excites the diaphragm which vibrates and thus results into sound waves. This is the most basic working of a speaker, reversing the flow of electricity to give sound vibrations.

Going into more depth, a speaker has a basic design that consists of drivers, cabinet, bass reflex port, spring clip, and crossover circuit. The drivers convert electrical signal to audible sound. It has a coil of wire that is attached to the amplifier. They are categorized into 4 types based on their overall audio spectrum. Various combinations of drivers decide the design of a speaker. Low-frequency drivers have the ability to provide extra bass. Mid-frequency drivers are responsible for the vocal part of the music. High-frequency drivers are also known as tweeters and are responsible for the delivery of sharp pitch sound. Full-range drivers are the combination of high and mid-frequency drivers work in for balanced audio reproduction.

The electrical signal converted by drivers into audible audio signals is enhanced by the bass reflex port which enhances the low frequency part of the music. It helps in reducing the ‘huffing’ type effect and is either installed in the front or the rear of the cabinet. Another component, the spring clip also known as binding post provides dedicated amplification to each speaker driver. It is capable of binding bare wires, plugs and spade terminated cables. The last component, The Crossover circuit takes care of channeling various bands to the appropriate drivers. Like high frequency to tweeter and low frequency to bass unit.

Work From Home Based Business Opportunity Program - Success Will Never Attack You!

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

The best work from home based business opportunity program is no doubt the one that makes you the most money. But at the same time no matter how good the opportunity is “success” will never attack you.

In other words, success will never jump on your back and say giddy-up. An opportunity kit will not jump out of the box it came in and drag you to the bank while the two of you are laughing all the way.

If you are used to selling anything online you will get some customers that will be mad at you because of the high price you put on the product they bought from you. They thought it was a good deal when they bought it but after they opened up the information they decided they either knew all that already or that they got ripped off without even giving the information a chance.

The truth is most of your customers like your opportunity product. Even if it is an exceptional product though you will still get a certain percentage of refunds. Every product has it’s own refund percentage to it of course. For some products it’s higher, for some it is lower.

Someone may gripe that they were amazed at how little information was in the actual e-book they got for the money. Yet they do nothing with the information. And the truth is, the content, providing it is good accurate content, is only good information if someone applies it, right? After all, some people make excuses, others make money.

Maybe you saved the customer thousands of dollars from buying some another more prestigious product that they couldn’t afford, yet they do nothing with the less expensive version except find fault with it.

This is really just an excuse for them. They really don’t want their dreams bad enough. These types of customers are “lifers” that will float from opportunity to opportunity forever never settling down on anything and putting in the hard work that is required to achieve their goals.

After all, hard work? That’s not my annuity settlement I just want the money and the recognition. Many times a guy working for a sheet metal company for example, has to buy expensive steel-toed work shoes, his own power drill and other power tools and that’s just for a job. Maybe he even has to have his own work truck.

Yet another person will gripe and complain if they have to invest a little money in their own business. Even a woman who works at a bank or a professional business office of some sort has to spend money on clothes and women’s clothes are not cheap. And again, that is just for a stinking job.

Why is it that as soon as someone decides to be their own boss they all of the sudden mentally go on vacation by not putting in the required effort that it takes to become successful. Like Thomas Edison said, “success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”

Many people cannot handle being their own boss simply because they have been told what to do all their lives. To be successful in life you have to learn how to motivate yourself.

Let’s face it, no one likes to push their selves. It’s so much easier to be forced to do stuff. I used to be amazed at what I would accomplish at work for someone else, yet at home for myself I would get nothing done.

Your biggest source for motivating yourself is to get around successful people. Success breeds success. Learn to motivate yourself with books, mp3’s, etc. Study your field of expertise. And most of all take action. Action creates belief and belief creates results. Belief and action together will give you the needed “how-to” to get things done.

Spiritual Healing - Releasing Emotions is the Work of This Lifetime - What Can Help?

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Releasing emotions that have been buried is the ongoing work of a lifetime for each of us. We can do this for ourselves and we can help others by facilitating the release of emotional blocks for them and by helping them to develop tools that they can apply to resolve emotional blocks from their own past.

We came into this world with a perfect blueprint- it is our true Arkansas Lemon Laws and it is registered in our DNA as light frequency. That means our feelings are registered in our DNA as frequency-both positive and negative. Every time we experience a negative thought or emotion-it acts like a short circuit to our system-it dims our light and conversely, every time we experience a positive feeling or emotion it brightens our light. Repressed, hidden or buried emotions block us from accessing our cellular record of God’s perfection.

Repressed, hidden or buried emotions block us from accessing our cellular record of God’s perfection. Releasing these stored emotions from when they were first locked into our cells-un-covers the memory of perfection throughout our bodies. It restores our light! That means we need to get to the original wound to unlock the cascade of feelings that have continued to dim our brightness. Carolyn Myss says as much in her work on “woundology.”

125% Equity Home Loans

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

If you are a homeowner in need of a home equity loan but you have not yet built up any equity in your home, don’t despair. A 125 percent equity home loan may be the answer.

A 125 percent equity home loan is a second mortgage loan that allows you to borrow up to 25% more than the value of your home. For example, if your home is worth $100,000 and you owe $100,000 on the mortgage, this loan program would allow you to still borrow up to $25,000.

The 125 percent equity home loan is offered by various online lenders. Each lender has their own qualification and loan term guidelines but generally this is a credit score driven loan program. Credit score driven means that you have to have a certain credit score to qualify for the loan. In addition, your credit score usually determines the maximum loan amount you may qualify for and the maximum cash in hand you may receive. Also, some 125 percent equity home loan lenders may require seasoning on the length of time you have lived in your home. Three months is normally the minimum.

When it comes to a property appraisal, most 125 percent home equity loan lenders do not require you to obtain one. They generally will use the purchase price of your home as the value if you have lived in your residence for 12 months or less. If you have lived in your home over 12 months, a recent tax assessment, simple drive-by appraisal, or automated value model (avm) can be used. An avm is a computer generated assessment of your home’s value which is based on recent home sales of comparable houses in your neighborhood.
